Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

(Article generated from 'IGN')

The followup to Deus Ex: Human Revolution retains the strong gameplay blueprint of choice-driven stealth and RPG elements that defines the series, but its superlative map and mission designs elevate it to new highs.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s gorgeously realized version of Prague has meaty, multi-part quests that give you plenty of chances to leverage its toy chest of cool gadgets and abilities. Its story is just slightly limited in scope compared to the far-reaching conspiracies the plot often alludes to, but in terms of raw gameplay, this is the best the series has ever been.

There are a handful of powerful, sexy new experimental augments you can wire into your cyborg protagonist Adam Jensen. The energy-draining Titan Armor ripples angrily as it shrugs off everything from bullets to grenades, the Tesla Arm attachment locks onto and incapacitates multiple targets at range, and when someone absolutely needs to die immediately, the arm-mounted nanoblade launcher pierces flesh and armor alike - knocking its target clean off their feet and pinning the corpse to the nearest wall with tremendous force. They’d almost be too powerful if not for the associated energy and ammo costs that come with them.

Being able to leap, sneak, muscle, or hack my way into almost anywhere wouldn’t mean much if there wasn’t anything there worth discovering, but my feats of high-tech infiltration were always rewarded in one way or another. An innocent-looking curio shop might have a secret passage leading to a storage locker full of valuable items, or sneaking through a neighboring apartment might lead to you stumbling into one of the meaty multi-part sidequests.

In terms of complexity and design these optional adventures are no less sophisticated than the main quest-line. You won’t find any simple hit jobs or fetch quests here; these are long-form assignments with lots of moving parts, and they require you to find one of several possible solutions at every step. They usually begin simply, with a random email I’d read on a laptop I’d hacked or a shady police officer claiming I didn’t have the proper papers to get through a checkpoint.

Game developer Eidos Montreal has made many smart improvements to the moment-to-moment experience since Human Revolution. A new cover-to-cover movement system and the ability to mantle up ledges, for instance, make getting around much smoother. The UI also does a much better job of informing you when you’ve been seen, who sees you, and how close you are to inciting a gunfight.

The Verdict
Aside from the smaller-feeling plot, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided improves upon its excellent predecessor in every other way. Its impeccably designed environments are flush with possibility, remaining completely coherent while supporting a wide variety of routes and character builds, and Jensen’s prodigious new feats of techno-wizardry add new dimension to both combat and exploration. Mankind Divided never stopped challenging me or rewarding my curiosity, which pushed me to thoroughly explore its beautiful, ruined world while carefully weighing my decisions along the way.

F1 2016

(Article generated from 'Eurogamer')

Well, this looks more like it. F1 2015 was a fine game, but F1 2016 is in some ways the game that 2015 should have been, restoring the career mode and features like the safety car as well as some of the other trimmings that had come to be expected of the series. But saying that is almost a disservice to what's going on here. F1 2016 looks like it could be much more than that.

Here's a driving game that's not afraid to geek out, and the way F1 2016 revels in the nitty gritty of the sport puts to mind the petrol-headed detail of Dirt Rally. Perhaps after all those years dithering in shallower waters, Codemasters has learnt that it's okay to dive deep and go a little hardcore. In its own way, F1 2016 feels like the deepest, most nerdy of racing games.

Take any race weekend that forms part of your career. Choose your programme on one of Friday's free practice sessions, whether that's plain acclimatisation - achieved through negotiating a series of gates on-track that complement the driving line - or working on acquiring data on the different compounds of tyre available to you. Perform a qualifying simulation, or see how long runs will work out - then get back into the pits and glory in all the hard data you're presented with, with delicious screens stacked with graphs lying in wait. If you perform those tasks then you're afforded development points that can be placed back into the car - a neat levelling system that ties together a career mode that can span up to 10 seasons.

F1 2016's career seems much more open-armed than previous efforts, not limiting you to lower teams at the start and allowing you to jump straight into a Mercedes with your own custom avatar should you so wish. It's now possible to lose your drive, too, should you find yourself underperforming or just driving into your teammate once too often.

Also, the safety car returns and demands you stick to a designated delta time over the course of a lap. Elsewhere the five second penalty is in, pit lane speeding is possible thanks to an all-new, more involved system _ Tracks are available at different times of day, so you'll be struggling with low sun in certain practice sessions - and will be able to see the Singapore street circuit being run in full daylight.

Then there's the addition of the formation lap, a feature that's surprising in its implementation in that I can't fathom who possibly could have asked for it. The new in-game HUD - one that imparts much more detail - lets you see how well you're managing the temperatures of the car etc. Also driving in adverse weather conditions is much trickier than it was last year.
F1 2016 looks to do a wonderful job of replicating the minutiae of the sport, but it's smart enough to know when to make a break from reality.

NO MAN'S SKY

(Article generated from 'Trusted Reviews')

No Man’s Sky, the hugely ambitious space adventure by Hello Games has been boggling the minds of gamers since 2013. It takes place in a procedurally generated universe full of billions of planets, so there’s incredible potential for endless engrossing space exploration and discovery. Exploration isn’t the only feature, though. Here are five things you should know about the game...

IT’S ABSOLUTELY HUGE
The entire universe of No Man’s Sky is filled with a dizzying array of planets, stars, lifeforms and ecosystems, all ripe for discovery. You will stumble across alien creatures, ancient civilizations and strange, untouched technology as you make your way toward the centre of the galaxy. There will be a total of 18 quintillion planets, which would take players centuries to explore in real life on their own. The odds of encountering another person out in the wild is near impossible, unless you have the exact co-ordinates of their current star system.

THERE IS NO STORY, AND THAT’S A GOOD THING
The universe in No Man’s Sky will no doubt be filled with engaging mysteries and profound lore, but there will be no linear story to follow. The only story will be told by YOU, punctuated by the planets and creatures you discover along the way. There are also a multitude of alien languages to uncover as you progress. These come in the form of a fully-fledged alphabets that can be used to communicate with NPCs such as merchants and hostile mercenaries.

YOU HAVE YOUR VERY OWN SPACESHIP
Space exploration will play an integral part in No Man’s Sky, so as you might expect, keeping your ride in up to speed is super vital. Every spaceship can be upgraded in a number of categories, whether this be brutal firepower or agile manoeuvrability. You’ll also be able to purchase shiny new ships at space stations dotted throughout the galaxy, so long as you have enough currency. If you happen to get blown to pieces on your travels, don’t worry, your ship will accompany you when you respawn.

THE UNIVERSE HAS LAWS _ SO BEHAVE!!
It isn’t quite Grand Theft Auto in space, but misbehaving in No Man’s Sky does have its consequences. When harvesting resources on a new planet you don’t want to be too greedy, otherwise Sentinels will come after you. These towering mechanical beings can be defeated if you have the right equipment, but pack a hefty punch regardless. The same rules apply to each planet’s wildlife. If you harm them or purposely destroy their natural habitat you’re in for some serious punishment.

YOU CAN MAKE FRIENDS AND ENEMIES
You might not stumble across a living, breathing human in No Man’s Sky, but there will be plenty of opportunities to form new relationships, which can be good and bad. If you befriend specific characters in the game world you can join special factions with their own unique benefits. Helping certain factions could reward you with new equipment and resources or drag you into an irreversible conflict. Rival factions will often go into battle with one another, forcing you into colossal dogfights in the vast emptiness of space. This will put your skills to the ultimate test, so make sure you come prepared.
